We constantly find our self preparing for test at school, preparing our meals, preparing for a snowstorm, hurricane, we spend many years going to school to get intellectual knowledge, we acquire skills set to do our jobs better, these preparations take a period of time, it requires focus, hard work, and persistence.

My brothers and I were guests on a podcast over the weekend. It was wonderful. The producer wanted to know our coding journey, how each of us got into coding, why coding and not something else, programming sometimes may look intimidating. He was correct no doubt. Especially getting into it at a young age.
My age was still in the single digits when I started, he wanted to know why I was not intimidated, why I was not scared at the look of many lines of code, why I did not have any doubt I could do it.

We all know that this was a gift from the Lord our creator. A unique gift he placed in my hands and the amazing people he placed in my path. I cannot forget my teacher Mrs. Joyner who noticed I was reading at the age of 2.5 years and again meeting with my mom for something else and my mom told her I want to create apps, she introduces me to Philip who told me I have to learn how to code if I wanted to create apps, that is why on the Bugzero.codes website

When I first asked my mom about coding, she didn’t believe it.
She thought I was just saying gibberish. When I got serious about coding, that’s when she started thinking, “Ok, maybe he really does want to code.” Motivation and Confidence,
two of probably the most impactful drivers of successful people. When parents believe and encourage a child, something sparks in the child.
The child then feels “Yeah! I can do this!” even when it gets difficult. The kids around you, what’s their interest? Is it believable or unbelievable?
I’m so grateful that my mom later believed and ever since she is running with the vision.

This Basketball season for me has been amazing, we won again today it was 57 and 47. I have made several baskets than I have ever made since I started playing in the school team. Practicing more than I have ever done have worked. In my spare time which I do several things, I have set aside time for basketball, I really practice or sometimes I watch professional basketball games, paying close attention has really helped. Looking back, I can say I ran around the court more, this season I realized the focus is mastering the skills. Basketball skills are dribbling, passing, shooting, rebound and defense. I started doing better as I continued to practice.
It is the first month of a new year, there are many things we want to do better, there are things we like to do, our passions, jobs, academics, sports and most importantly our families. For every area we want to make a change we need to do it better by mastering the set skills. For coding the skill needed to do better is PRACTICE. PRACTICING done correctly in the right way helps us to improve at the things we want to get better at which ultimately leads to excellence.

I missed doing chores this morning ( wiping down the countertop and putting the dishes away). When we got back, food was ready. Mom asked me a question that really got me thinking, she asked if my basketball coach could coach the team and play the game all by himself? I pondered over that question. No, that is not possible. I replied that is not a game. I reminded her of the amazing role everyone plays in the court and the importance of every player’s role is to the team. She said teamwork is valuable especially at home.
I apologized and remembered when one player is sick or injured, the entire team is affected.
Everyone has a role to play in growing the TECH community in 2019. We have so much to do in every profession. Every professional community is waiting for the TECH community.
Let’s not forget our role in the solution. For some it is mentoring, for some, it is sparking curiosity, for some, it is encouraging, for some it is teaching, for some, it is identifying and developing the big idea. For many, it is implementing the solution.
We have a mandate as the fastest growing industry in the World.
