Putting a Smile on Someone’s face
It’s Friday! Everyone is super excited for the weekend and they are waiting anxiously to get home. How about today, as you show your excitement to the people around you, try to put a smile on their faces. Being kind won’t hurt anyone. WIll you type a line of code over the weekend?
Can you imagine if everyone in tech begins to teach/mentor/encourage a kid to learn how to code? Many times when we think of giving back people believe that only certain people can give back, that only companies can give back. Every little collective effort will bring a significant change.
Everyone can give back in several different ways.
Do you give back?
Many schools were either out of school or had a 2-hour delay last Thursday and Friday here in North Carolina. It’s funny the way North Carolina’s weather works. One day it is 70 degrees and then the next day it is below freezing. What if North Carolina was always cold? What if there was always snow and the temperature never got above 50 degrees? What if life changed as frequently as the weather? The journey and the process of making a change are amazing and full of irreplaceable memories.
How will you respond to a frequent change in your career, job or your journey in building solutions or solving problems that have lasted for too long?
Euphonia is an amazing project helping people battling with ALS. It gives them a voice in a way they can turn on the TV, search Youtube, and communicate with friends and family. Google came and worked with these amazing men and women and together, they brought this powerful vision to life.
How did this start? One person’s desire to build a solution to an existing challenge. Other people got involved together and they made a change.
Kids have a place in building solutions too!

There are a few kids building solutions right now! How can we change that few to many?
Math and English has been the fundamental education for kids for a long time. Math is not and cannot be changed. It is the first and core subject for all kids. The next is computer science
which is not taught in every elementary, middle and high school.
English is great but it doesn’t cut across all geographical location. Math and computer science is for all kids on the planet.
Some kids are not able to learn computer science how do we solve this global problem, how do we make this great change?
