Can You? Really Do It.

Can You? Really Do It.

We have big dreams of things that we want to do and things that we hope to accomplish. Many people think they are too young or old. When you say that you want to learn how to code, a common response is “can you”? Some will say that is impossible. Some will say you did not study computer science in college.
You can do anything in coding and remember coding is not just for you. It is a problem-solving technique that helps other people. I think it is cool for everyone to learn how to do because I believe you can.
Everyone can code including kids.

Aftermath of Hurricane Florence

Aftermath of Hurricane Florence

Hurricane Florence was the first natural disaster that we have ever been to. Even though it has weakened to a tropical depression, it is not moving anywhere causing major flash flooding even inland of North Carolina and South Carolina. In the triangle area, we are still getting flash flood warnings. Fortunately, we did not lose power or have damaged property. Technology has helped us prepare for the hurricane.
Technology is helping keep track of the weather. It has also helped Duke Energy send text messages to residents giving an estimated time when power will be restored. Technology has helped us see real-time what the roads look like. Technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family. Technology
has been amazing. I have just counted a few of the many wonders of technology. Because of technology, much fewer lives were lost. I hope you all are having a great day, and I am sure kids are enjoying their breaks from school.
Many have lost their homes to flooding. Some are displaced. Some have lost their cars. Trees fell on some people’s homes. On TV, kids and the elderly who have been displaced are in shelters. It must be a very difficult time. On TV I watched the Salvation Army distributing food to people who have lost power since on Thursday. Volunteers helping others. One of the volunteers said she had lost power in her home since on
Thursday and even she were volunteering to reach out to help people.

Special thank you to all those helping others during and after Hurricane Florence.

Hurricane Season

Hurricane Season

The weatherman first broke the news about Hurricane Florence.
And it is here now. As the rain came down heavily, the trees swaying in a different direction! My brother asked me “What would we have done if there was no news”? Which basically means no TV, no Radio, and no internet. How would we have known that Hurricane Florence was coming? What was life like for people who live in areas with such a natural disaster? and I thought of the way change and help technology had brought.
Friends and family have called us from different parts of the world because they saw that Hurricane Florence is coming in our direction. Everyone was prepared, they bought flashlights, generators, canned food, candles. Some have gone to another state for safety.
Can you imagine if no one knew what was going to happen and Hurricane Florence suddenly showed up?
Kids at school, people at work. These are some of the differences technology has made. People are using apps to help people who are out there trying to keep people safe, keeping track of the storm, people are checking in their loved ones, people are capturing and sharing every moment. Even in a time like this, technology is making a whole lot of difference. There are many apps out there making a lot of difference but many problems still need to be solved, kids can solve those problems!

Perseverance

Perseverance

Learning how to code at the beginning may not be the easiest thing to do or learn. It takes time and practice to get better at programming/coding. It takes even more hard work to make full applications.
“The key is in continuity”. If you keep trying, never give up and put your mind to it. You will get past the obstacles and begin to love programming/coding. The excitement is when you are able to solve a problem.
When you write clean codes, it’s amazing! The feeling is amazing! And at that point, we forget all the frustration.

Gaming

Gaming

A lot of kids love to play games, including me! I love to talk about games. It Is one of the things that I love to do in my spare time. My brothers and I talk about different games. I remember the first time I started coding.  The first programming language, as I said before, was Python. I created a game that 50 people could play. It was amazing! I played it with my brothers and my friends and they all enjoyed it. I showed my mom and I saw the look on her face. She was surprised. Playing a game is fun,  but creating your own game is amazing! Writing the codes is so much fun! I am counting down on this workshop. Kids will love it! I can’t wait to share some of the excitement. I will share the excitement and responses at the workshop. This is going to be so much fun, not just the game, but the code behind the game. Learning a new programming language, the terms used and how we can bring our story, the motion pictures, the movement is going to be great. I got a chance to meet Limited Run. It was an amazing experience! Limited Run will be giving us an insight into gaming not only as players but as creators.

Here at Bug Zero.Codes, we have been sharing our passion for libraries, schools, and meetup events. Now we want to include a workshop so that kids can have a taste of coding and then fall in love with coding, as time goes on.  Together we will combat online mischief distraction and enhance math skills while we build strong communities where kids can take part in solving problems using the code in homes and schools around the world.

We are excited Limited Run is collaborating with us to teach kids how to make their own games and at the same time learn how to code. Let us learn while having fun.

We are elevating play! Share this! Invite friends and family.
